Christie and my meeting wasn't exactly love at first
sight. In fact it is probably a good thing we both had roommates at
the time or otherwise our chance meeting wouldn't have went farther than the
first night.
I had been living in Ridgely's Delight
for a couple of months with my Roommates Brian Mastervich and Scott Cousin.
I guess you could say we were taking full advantage of our location by
making all the local pubs a "Place where everyone knows your
name!" Not being the most outgoing person I managed to stay single (go
figure !!), until one fateful night or should I say a series of events.
Every
year the Ridgely's Delight community association hosts a "Meet your
Neighbor Night" at Camden Pub. My roommates and I had planned on
going....I know it sounds corny, but with the majority of community being
students we figured what the hell !! Unfortunately that night I
brought home some work that needed to be done by the next day, and decided
not to go. Mastervich decided that he wasn't taking NO for an answer and
practically drug me over kicking and screaming.
I
guess you could say it wasn't exactly what we expected. The average
age was about 50 !! So our focus turned from women to Lager. I found
myself a cozy spot in the corner and commenced drinking. About 3 beers later
3 hotties walked through the door....OK, two hotties. They looked to
be about as excited to be there as we were. After everyone had a beer in
hand the conversations commenced. However by this time I was ready to
go...so how do I put this...umm I guess you could say I was flat out rude. I
said hello than left. Naturally the conversation continued and Brian
and Scott ended up walking the three of them home. Luckily my suave
roommates managed to get there number....which naturally lead to event
number 2.
After several phone calls back and forth,
the girls of 664 as they came to be called. Managed to make it over for a
"Monday Night Football Party". However, the funny thing was
there wasn't anyone else coming....oops !! This was the first time
Christie and I really talked. I can't remember the first thing that
caught my attention. I do remember her talking about rock climbing and also
thinking "Damn this girl can drink !"
We
continued to do things as a group until one weekend both my roommates and
hers were going out of town. She mentioned that she was meeting her
brother and some of his friends at the Gin Mill. I figured, "why
not", how bad could it be....DEAR GOD !!!! was I wrong. You would
have thought I was a member of hell's angels or something the number of
times her brother came over to check up on her. Every time I would
look around he was looking over to make sure I wasn't trying anything with
his little sister. I think the highlight of evening came when it was time to
leave. Jeff offered to take Christie home and she told him NO....that
I was going to drive her...
The rest is
history...
